Fly with pandas and walk in space

Flying with Pandas and Walking in Space: Pushing Boundaries Towards a Better Planet” Thursday, June 6 from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. in the Hunt Library Auditorium.

In this presentation zoo and wildlife veterinarians Lucy Spelman (art school professor) and Rick Linnehan (astronaut) discuss how they have pushed past traditional professional boundaries to help make the planet a better place. Their stories show us that collaboration, compassion, and creativity are an important part of scientific work.

“Rick and I are honored to be the keynote speakers for ‘Towards a Better Planet,’” Spelman says. “Each of us will share highlights from our careers using images—photos from space in Rick’s case and visual art informed by science in mine. We believe that collaboration and creativity are essential for a healthy Earth and hope to encourage others to follow our lead, to step out of their comfort zone, explore a new direction, and take action.”

This event is free and open to the public. Friends of the Library members are invited to a reception following the presentation.
